Experience
"No doubt my son has shared that today he got his AP score. He received a 5! He is so proud, as are we. He told us, even before the exam, that this has been his single best experience in math. You have definitely made a difference in his appetite for the subject, and obviously he has had a great year. Thank you! I hope you are safe in these pandemic times. We definitely look forward to working with you in the near future!" - D., Newton, MA “So happy to let you know that my son passed the placement test and is now in honors math! We are so grateful to you, as he would have not been able to reach this goal without you! You are such an important teacher and role model for both of our children. Many thanks for all you do for our kids. I feel so lucky that we found you.”// - S., Newton, MA I'm an MIT tutor specializing in math and test prep, and I have taught math (anywhere from prealgebra to calculus) for 6 years. I also recently helped one of my students raise his SAT scores from 670 to 800 in a month. I also have taken AP Calculus BC (single-variable calculus) in high school and Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations at MIT. I have been an active member of math team from elementary to high school, and my sister and I solve math problems for fun in our spare time. I believe in in-depth learning. In-depth learning helps my student build the foundation necessary to succeed in their future courses. To facilitate this type of learning, many of my lessons feature derivation of formulas. For the lessons that do not involve formulas, I present a few simple concepts from which we can derive and solve many other problems. My lessons also feature numerous questions to enhance student engagement and to improve student confidence of having them solve the problem on their own as much as possible. I then drill my students with practice problems until I'm fully convinced that the students truly understood the material. Though I specialize in gifted students, I also have worked with students from all kinds of background. Most of my students are either high school or college students, but I also worked with younger students. I also helped some students implement organizational tips and develop study skills necessary to succeed in their future classes. My students are from all over the world--China, France, Korea, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, Vietnam, and United States. To this day, my closest friends are still the international students. English is my second language as well, and I certainly empathize with students who struggle with the English language. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if you think we may be good fit!
