“I would not have passed my test in such a short time without her. I hired her a week before my test. She was very professional and very smart, and she used different technique to help me remember.” - Fabiola L. “Calc is going great. I got all A’s on my first three tests. Thank you for all your help!”  - Mark G. “My daughter is so happy about her A in math. Thank you for everything you are teaching her!” - S., Newton, MA I'm an MIT tutor specializing in math and test prep, and I have taught math (anywhere from prealgebra to calculus) for 6 years. I also recently helped one of my students raise his SAT scores from 670 to 800 in a month. I also have taken AP Calculus BC (single-variable calculus) in high school and Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations at MIT. I have been an active member of math team from elementary to high school, and my sister and I solve math problems for fun in our spare time. I believe in in-depth learning. In-depth learning helps my student build the foundation necessary to succeed in their future courses. To facilitate this type of learning, many of my lessons feature derivation of formulas. For the lessons that do not involve formulas, I present a few simple concepts from which we can derive and solve many other problems. My lessons also feature numerous questions to enhance student engagement and to improve student confidence of having them solve the problem on their own as much as possible. I then drill my students with practice problems until I'm fully convinced that the students truly understood the material. Though I specialize in gifted students, I also have worked with students from all kinds of background. Most of my students are either high school or college students, but I also worked with younger students. I also helped some students implement organizational tips and develop study skills necessary to succeed in their future classes. My students are from all over the world--China, France, Korea, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, Vietnam, and United States. To this day, my closest friends are still the international students. English is my second language as well, and I certainly empathize with students who struggle with the English language. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if you think we may be good fit!
