I tutored a young man that needed an 80% on a final calculus exam in order to graduate from high school. Not passing would mean delaying college and potentially derailing his future. The first time he tried to take the test, he scored a 40%, and there didn't seem to be any hope. However, after we had worked together for a few weeks, he took the test again. That evening, he called me up to tell me that he had passed! He had more than doubled his original score! That was a huge relief and joy to both him and his family, and I was grateful to have played a part in that. There's no better feeling.
