Education

I graduated from Babson College with a degree in Computational and Mathematical Finance, which deals with the math, statistics, and excel modeling that underpin finance. I am currently working in acquisitions at a Boston-based real estate investment bank. I received my Series 7 after taking the exam in 2014. Before Babson, I attended Boston College High School.

Experience

I think that in all range of study, from undergraduate courses to graduate studies to professional development, the instructor's focus tends to be overly content- or lecture-oriented at the expense of conceptual understanding. It has been my experience that as intimidating as the technical aspects of business and finance may seem, they actually follow lines of logic that tend to have parallels in a student's own experiences - though it takes more of an individualized effort to cultivate that. This is a large part of what tutoring offers. Perhaps because both my parents were teachers, the tutoring process has always come natural to me. From tutoring South Boston grade school students while in high school, to tutoring finance peers at Babson, to tutoring MBA students while a professional, I have consistently returned to tutoring in one form or another. I have studied and worked in depth with the tedium of these business and finance concepts while I have also tutored a number of people completely new to the concepts, so I am able to tailor an approach anywhere from advanced to complete beginner. My undergraduate degree was in the math that underlies finance as well as the excel modeling involved in finance. My greatest career strength has proven to be designing and building excel models. For my past employer, one of Boston's largest financial firms, I created an excel model that is still in use. So too have I built several excel models in use at my current company. From VBA programming to the keyboard shortcuts to stochastic processes to valuation techniques to Add-ins such as @risk, I have an in depth knowledge of excel and have been tutoring students in it since I was an undergrad. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced graduate student, please don't hesitate to reach out about any areas in which you're hoping to receive personalized tutoring. Business, finance or any other related fields, I am happy to help where able.
