Private tutor in Boston, MA

Education

Graduated with B.A. in Chemistry and Music (Double Major) at Rollins College (GPA: 3.83); currently at The New England Conservatory pursuing a Masters in Music- Voice Performance

Experience

I have had previous tutoring experience at Rollins College in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Scientific Writing (2014-16). Additionally, I have extensive laboratory experience, having worked at Rollins College (2014) to complete an original project in biochemistry in which I became skilled in biochemical techniques including cloning, transfection, and luciferase assays. Subsequently, I worked at the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at Georgia Tech as part of the 2015 National Science Foundation Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (NSF-REU). During my time at Georgia Tech, I modeled the polymerization of lactic acid to illuminate biopolymer origins using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (H-NMR). As part of my chemistry curriculum (which included General, Organic, Inorganic, Physical, Analytical, and Biochemistry), I took Calculus 1 and 2, Physics 1 and 2, and Biostatistics, so I feel comfortable tutoring mathematics as well. Also, in addition to my experience in music performance, I very much enjoy and excel in Music Theory, have experience in composition, and currently enrolled in Masters level Theory courses at The New England Conservatory.

Hobbies

I have always had a passion for science and music, and enjoyed exploring and connecting my interests in college as I conducted scientific research and performed in various musical venues (violin and voice). A highlight of my collegiate career included connecting my research in Origins of Life at Georgia Tech with the arts by composing and performing a string quartet for the Center for Chemical Evolution exhibit at the Atlanta Science Festival. I took the opportunity to explore my musical passion further by pursuing a Masters in Music- Voice Performance this year. When I am not studying music or in the lab, I enjoy running, swimming, learning Byzantine Chant through my church, playing chess with my sister, reading science fiction, and watching Star Trek!
