Hello! My name is Marie and I was born and raised in Lyon, France. I moved to the US in September 2015 for my Master's. I have traveled to 15+ countries and gained knowledge from different cultures and customs. Back in France, I used to teach both History and French to students preparing to take their "Brevet des collèges" (a required French school certificate that students must pass prior to going to high school). I also tutored French when I was studying in Germany for a year. I have helped individuals from the ages of 12 to 25. In Germany, the 25 year old individual that I taught French to had to move to France to start a new job but only had very basic knowledge in French. After 4 months, he was able to hold advanced conversations in French thanks to my tutoring. Learning a new language is easier when you live in the country you are trying to learn the language, so when teaching him, I tried to speak German as little as possible and progressively moved from easy to harder material in a fun yet challenging way. We focused a lot on pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. I can adapt each session to the individual's needs and I am very excited about teaching my language and culture to people willing to learn it.
