Private tutor in Boston, MA
Ball State University - Bachelors, Biology
My tutoring style includes always encouraging my students to explain how they arrived at an answer, including the steps they took. I believe that tutoring is a two-way street, not only should a teacher ask questions, they should answer them as well. When a pupil asks it the question, it means they understand they have strengths and weaknesses. Also, I know that people tend to disconnect from a subject if they cannot figure out how it will be useful in the future. One thing I work hard to do is to teach them the real world connections. I believe the more connections we make; the better the pupil will understand the materials. I have extensive educational and professional experience that will benefit my students. I have my Bachelor of Science in Biology. I took a short break from academics, but then applied for the Ph.D. programs in the area of Computational Biology. I co-authored a paper on freshwater ecology and it will hopefully be published soon. In the past, I have worked with pupils on test prep. Specifically, I have worked with middle school and high school students. I have given lectures, helped with homework, and taught testing strategies. I can help prep for the SAT, ACT, and GRE. I look forward to meeting with your student and helping them ace their exam!
