Private tutor in Boston, MA
Northeastern University - Current Undergrad, Mathematics and English
I am in my junior year at Northeastern University, where I am double majoring in Mathematics and English. My goal is to become a secondary school teacher in Boston. I love to tutor, and I have a wealth of experience tutoring professionally as well as tutoring as a volunteer. I worked for a private tutoring company, where I taught children in grade school a variety of subjects. Among the subjects tutored were Math, English, and university entrance exam preparation. In addition, I was a volunteer coach for an organization that helped prepare high school students for college by giving them the skills needed to succeed in higher education. As a volunteer, I reviewed and edited college entrance essays and answered any questions prospective students had about campus life. I am currently working a few hours a week in the Boston Public School System as a teacher's assistant. In this position, I assist struggling students in a one-on-one setting to help them better understand their course material. I work an average of thirty hours a semester in the classroom, and I love being able to assist the students by answering any of their questions. In addition to high school, I worked with young learners through a national nonprofit organization, where I taught phonics and literacy. When I am not volunteering, I enjoy staying physically active through kickboxing, reading, writing, and painting pictures.
