My name is Shaneequa and I work for a local, non-profit that focuses on education. It's my job to help with education reform, tutoring, program management, and youth development. I plan to start my own non-profit in the future and will also focus on educational issues. I want to find a way to incorporate performing arts and math strategies. I have experience working with City New Year, a non-profit that works to fix the achievement gap. It focuses on behavior, attendance, and coursework. We want all students to have the opportunity to have quality education and to also do well socially. I have been able to help a wide age-range of students in low income families through this program. I was in charge of implementing school-wide programs to over 300 students. I worked with 20 other professionals to develop academic workshops, reading and math nights, and college fairs. We also worked to minimize discipline problems. I want to help more students realize their academic capabilities through tutoring. I can teach a wide range of subjects, such as biology, math, literature, public speaking, psychology, and writing. When I'm not working or tutoring, I like to enjoy many hobbies. This includes hiking, creative writing, watching local performances, and volunteering.
