Aranda D.
Private tutor in Boston, MA
Education
I earned my Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame in 2012. Here, I studied physics, physical chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, and biology. Since then, I have engaged in neuroscience studies as a postdoctoral fellow at Brandeis University and MIT. I have also invested in research within pharmaceuticals. Throughout each of my positions, I pursued many different teaching opportunities at both the high school and undergraduate levels.
Experience
I have experience in one-on-one teaching in math, chemistry, and biochemistry both for high school students and undergraduates. I have successfully taught classes both large and small, and have mentored students personally. My students give me high reviews, and the most common feedback is that I am a patient teacher. I am willing to listen, never get bothered by questions, and am able to explain material a number of different ways to help a student reach understanding. I have been engaged in high school and undergraduate teaching for a number of years and was selected for a teaching fellowship while I was in graduate school. My heart and passion is to teach, and it certainly shows in my life. Whether I am teaching Sunday school to toddlers, giving piano lessons, tutoring in math and science, or leading large lecture halls, it is my joy to help students learn. I love 'seeing the lightbulb go off' when students grasp a new concept and successfully work through problems - this is what I love about being a tutor.

Hobbies
My students say that I am kind and patient. Of course, I love science and math whether inside or outside the classroom. Beyond academics, my hobbies include dance (especially hip hop!), wall climbing, and learning languages! I am a strong advocate of physical exercise for both physical and mental health. Choosing an exercise that one loves will provide more energy overall, longer stamina, and even better brain function for learning!
