Experience
I have tutored and taught Mandarin Chinese for the past five years, working with students ranging from elementary school through adults. My students also span a broad range of educational levels, from introductory work through International Baccalaureate preparation. I developed my language skills while living in China and attending both Taiwan University and the Beijing Foreign Studies University. I enjoy tutoring because the individual sessions allow the tutor to take a clear measure of the student's strengths and weaknesses, and to know when the student has mastered all aspects necessary for thorough understanding of a language: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. In addition to helping students achieve their academic goals, I want to encourage my students to take chances and to be self-motivated in their learning processes. I am available to assist students in ESL/ELL, English, Mandarin Chinese 1-4, AP Chinese, and International Baccalaureate Language ab initio SL. When I'm not working with students, I enjoy sports, music, movies, cooking, reading, and Chinese pop culture.
