Experience

I've taught for 30 plus years in upstate NY, Michigan and greater Boston in upper elementary, middle school (Newton) and high school (history, social studies, and ESL including academic writing) as well as in community college (ESL) and adult education. I've been a mentor to 2 Boston Public School teachers via the Aspire Institute of Wheelock College. I've tutored 3 students: 3 adults in ESL (French and Spanish speakers) and one HS student in essay writing. I completed the Orton-Gillingham course on multi-sensory approach to teaching reading/ phonics. I authored 2 books: How to Think Creatively in the Workplace (American Management Assn) and Knocking on Doors: VISTA Volunteers Remember (Harvard Book Store).

Hobbies

My hobbies are practicing yoga, reading, writing poetry and traveling. (US. Canada, Europe, Mexico and Nigeria). I have an adult son who has a learning disability and have created several alternative assessments as a public school teacher before retirement.
