Private tutor in Boston, MA
Agnes Scott College - BA, English/Classical Civilizations
After earning two bachelor's degrees from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Georgia (one in English Literature and the other in Classical Civilizations), I moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where I am working toward two master's degrees at Simmons College of Library and Information Science: one in Children's Literature and another in Library and Information Science. My love for tutoring began while working at the Center for Writing and Speaking at Agnes Scott College. However, my passion lies in helping children from grades K-5. I even spent a year in Austria working with first graders. I tutor students from 1st grade to 12th grade in a wide range of subjects. While my favorite subjects include writing, reading, English, and German, I tutor students in Latin, public speaking, social studies, art history, and study skills. I can also help edit essays and tutor students in literature, Shakespeare, vocabulary, fiction writing, creative writing, expository writing, persuasive writing, medieval literature, British literature, literary analysis, and poetry among many others. Additionally, I work with gifted and special education students. My tutoring services are also available throughout the summer. My philosophy for teaching is based on solid reading skills. With a fundamental knowledge of reading, you can open the door to your imagination and new worlds. In my free time, I enjoy working with the local theater, reading, writing, and children's literature. I also love to travel the world and learn the language native to that region.
