Private tutor in Boston, MA
M.I.T. - S.B., Brain and Cognitive Sciences , University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine - M.D., Medicine
My academic background includes an undergraduate degree from MIT, with a Brain and Cognitive Sciences concentration and a double minor in Music and Biology. I later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine with an M.D. degree. I then completed residency and became a practicing physician. I reached a point where I stopped being a doctor and chose to fulfill a dream I had all my life - to become a writer. To date, I have published two short stories and one essay. My first novel is in progress. My tutoring experience includes Writing and English, of course, but also Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, and Life Sciences. 826 Boston is nonprofit writing center aimed at kids. I have volunteered there as a tutor and in the process learned how important it is to make the learning process fun. My approach when I tutor is to focus on giving the kids the ability to solve problems and to be able to draw conclusions and make connections themselves. This is far superior than rote memorization and being spoon fed. A broader learning approach is how I was taught during my time at MIT, and has certainly benefited me in my life. From a person perspective, I love to read, write, knit, swim, and spend time with family.
