Good day! I hope this message finds you well. My name is Aminata. I am a 23 year-old recent college graduate (I guess May of 2013 isn't so recent anymore) with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology/Anthropology from Denison University in Granville, OH. I am a Boston native (born and raised) serving as an Americorps member this year. I am very interested in the tutoring opportunities listed with University tutor particularly in the Boston area and/or the North Shore. My tutoring and childcare experiences vary. In college I was an America Reads tutor working with young children (ages 5-10) on various literacy activities and curriculums. I tutored with America Reads for three years and even took on various leadership positions in the program. I then became a Big Sister with the Big Brother Big Sister association where I mentored two 9 year-old girls for over a year in Newark, OH. We did a lot of reflective writing activities during my time as a Big Sister. In my current role I manage a learning center for teens in the Lynn, MA area. I assist my high school aged youth with homework and provide them with the tools to excel academically. Homework subjects include: Spanish, Algebra, Writing/English and History. More recently my involvement in the Reading Sisters Book Club at Girls Inc. (peer reading with 7-8 year old girls) has reassured me that my passion for people and education begins with children and youth. I develop literacy based curriculumfor the program presently. My ongoing experiences with children and youth have strengthened my abilities to console, nurture, learn, and entertain children. Availability: My weekdays are almost always busy given my hectic Americorps schedule; however, I am free weekday evenings after 7:00pm and usually 3-4 weekends in the month. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to hearing from you! Best, Aminata
