Experience

I am an ACT/SAT prep specialist with over a decade of experience, not simply a general tutor or teacher. Since I focus solely on these tests, I have developed expert knowledge of their format, content, and intricacies. Teaching almost exclusively from my vast library of material published by the actual test-makers, my students are exposed to REAL TEST MATERIAL from DAY ONE. This ensures there are NO surprises on test day, as a student will know exactly what to expect and reduces test-related anxiety. Mock questions from non-official guides are notoriously inaccurate and lead to valuable time and energy spent studying concepts that will not appear on test day! Every program and every lesson is 100% tailored to fit each students needs to ensure they gain every last valuable point. At the outset of our time together, we set realistic (yet challenging) score goals based on target schools, current level, time commitment, and other factors. If we fail to meet the score goal, I offer additional prep FREE OF CHARGE. Diagnostic testing is also included. I have ample experience navigating, applying for, and even appealing each test's Special Testing Accommodations. I enjoy getting to know each student and family and developing a comfortable, trusting, and positive relationship. Over the years, I have stayed with students sometimes from their Freshman year all the way through graduation, often times also working with siblings. Although I believe in a holistic approach to test prep, I am also open to focusing on one or two subjects as needed. I believe in a "longer-term" (1.5 - 3+ months) steady pace, to avoid feeling overwhelmed or the stress of last-minute crunch. Please contact me to discuss you/your child's individual needs so we can structure the best plan! For a comprehensive, full-test plan, I suggest 15 - 30 hours, managed in 1.5 - 2 hour lessons. Lessons can be supplemented with online meetings using my interactive classroom/whiteboard. I can meet in your home, school, or public/university library.

Hobbies

I am an outgoing, engaging person who likes to experience new facets of life. While I am not "obsessed" with any one hobby, I enjoy hiking and being active outdoors (trips to the beach and local ski mountains!), anything related to the water, volunteer work in my community, quality time with family & friends (and meeting new faces!), reading, current events & business news, and attending concerts and comedy shows. I am grounded with seriousness of purpose, but try to be a well-rounded interesting person.
