Graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 2005, with degrees in Political Economy and Chinese Language. Graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School (top-20 law school) in 2009, magna cum laude.

Experience

I understand that students learn in different ways and at different rates, and I want to help my students develop the confidence to perform well academically. I have tutored high school students in writing, history, and math. I was also a youth fencing coach for a top-ranked fencing club in Oakland California, and taught student-run classes at the University of California Berkeley. My academic background is focused primarily on the social sciences and writing. For my university degrees I focused mainly on economics, history, philosophy, and writing/literature. As a result of my performance at Berkeley, I earned a full tuition scholarship to the University of Minnesota Law School. In law school I further enhanced my writing abilities through coursework, as well as being the head articles editor for the Minnesota Law Review. The Minnesota Law Review is a top-10 ranked journal. As the articles editor, I was in charge of substantive and stylistic editing for the journal. I understand how to take standardized tests, and can help students in that area. I scored in the top 1% on the law school admissions test, the top 2% in the language portion of the SAT, and the top 3% for the math portion of the SAT. My proficiency in Spanish comes from living for a year in Panama. During that year I attended Panamanian schools, and spoke almost exclusively in Spanish. I am currently a practicing attorney.

Hobbies

My hobbies include reading, sports, and travel. During high school and college I was a competitive fencer. I am currently playing rugby for a club team based out of Newton Massachusetts. I enjoy traveling very much, and I have been to Europe, Central America, China, and Turkey.
