Private tutor in Boston, MA
Wellesley College 2013, Latin honors B.A. in English, minor in Teacher Education Massachusetts state certification in secondary school English
I am a full-time certified teacher, but I still tutor regularly, making information -- particularly literacy and writing skills -- more accessible for people who need a little extra guidance. I bring patience, encouragement, and exacting instruction to the table. I'm a stickler about correct grammar and a sucker for good literature. I have 8 years of tutoring experience in ESL, writing and reading comprehension skills, college essays, and the ACT/SAT. I've taught dozens of students of various skill levels in elementary, middle, and high school. When I was in high school, I received a 2290 on the SAT, above 700 on the Biology, Spanish, and Literature subject tests, and 5 on the U.S. History, Literature & Composition, Art History, European History, and Spanish AP exams. I have many effective test-taking skills up my sleeve, developed from both tutoring and personal test-prep experience. My teaching experiences include volunteering in high school as a first grade TA at a local weekend Korean school, teaching English as a foreign language at a rural elementary school in South Korea for six months in college, and student teaching at a public high school in suburban Massachusetts. After graduating from Wellesley, I have been teaching English at a private high school in the Greater Boston area for these past two years.
