Experience

I would be a great tutor for any of the following: all periods of History, especially medieval European, all levels of French, including Old French, English Literature or Composition/Writing, and Beginning level Latin- specifically Post- Classical Latin. I am also quite knowledgable in the areas of Womens' Studies, Religious Studies and Italian. Also, if you need to hone your organizational or research skills, I am your girl! I want to be a tutor because I LOVE to teach. My enthusiasm, empathy and efficiency make me great at communicating what really matters to students.I am also non-judgemental and patient, which comes in handy when someone is really struggling with a concept. Hard work and perserverance are what matters to me most, both in my own work and that of those I teach. I have taught the following courses at the Catholic University of America, in addition to taking a Graduate level Teaching Methods course: Adjunct Instructor- History 387: Junior Seminar for History Majors- Fall 2009, Fall 2010. Solo Teacher both years in small discussion-oriented class. Designed my own syllabus, Fall ’09. Teaching Assistant- History 235: Medieval Civilization - Fall 2008. (Head T.A.) Honors Humanities 102: From Charlemagne to Chaucer - Spring 2008. History 102: World Civilizations from 1700- Spring 2007, Spring 2008. History 101: World Civilizations to 1700- Fall 2007, Fall 2008. I also served as an informational resource for students at the Boston University Washington Program in D.C. (primarily giving personalized academic advice and guidance on paper writing)while I was Finance Assistant there, August 2009 until March 2011. Scores: SAT Verbal: 720 AP: Art History-5 English Language-5 English Literature-5 American History- 5 European History-5 Etc: I was given the John Tracy Ellis Dissertation Award by the American Catholic Historical Association in 2011 for writing a concise and compelling proposal about my PhD thesis project which is now in progress.
