Experience
I have over 3 years of experience as a tutor, both in and outside of the classroom! I began tutoring at a community college in New York after being selected to take an extensive course that qualified me to be an English/Writing tutor. As a student-tutor, I was able to assist at-risk, ESL and adult learners with writing skills and reading comprehension, as well as attend a regional conference on tutoring for writing. I've also worked with a summer transition program, SmartStart, that uses retesting to improve students' academic skills. As a lead tutor, I successfully conducted individual and small group tutoring sessions for over 125 students in six weeks. In Boston, I've worked as a conversational English tutor with students from Taiwan. I love working with non-native speakers and learning about new cultures!
