Experience
I am a physics PhD by education but worked over 20 years in financial industry among a wide range of areas. I started as a quant in 1997, building derivative pricing models at Deutsche Bank in NYC, then worked as fixed income trader and structurer at Merrill and UBS in NYC. In 2004, I relocated to Hong Kong as the head of securitized product in Asia for UBS in charge of CDO and CLO trading in Asia ex-Japan. After 2008, my focus changed into debt capital market as the head of fixed income for a leading Chinese investment bank, and later head of credit rating at a leading local rating agency. I am now relocated back to the US. My experiences come from first hand front desk work. I can provide you with the quantitative techniques and modeling skills, explain correctly the nature of money and banking, but also share with you the real life side of the financial industry. What I will teach cannot be found in any textbook. In fact I consider most of the conventional textbooks are twenty years out of date. I can provide tutoring mainly in two areas: 1. If you have already learned the basic financial accounting concepts (balance sheet, income, cashflow etc.), I will teach you financial modeling beyond the conventional ratio analysis. The technique we use produce far more powerful and realistic forecast of a company's future financial positions and operating results. 2. If you like to learn the nature of money, understand Federal Reserve's operations, relation of finance to economy, nature of the capital market (bond vs. equity), nature of the 2008 financial crisis, I will share with you the understanding developed over my 20 years of work in the market.
