Experience
I have been tutoring professionally for five years, primarily in math and writing. My tutoring philosophy: My most important role as a tutor is to help empower students to learn and teach themselves with the end goal of them being self-sufficient enough to no longer need tutoring. I believe one of the biggest obstacles students face is a lack of confidence in their ability to learn and improve. I foster a constructive learning environment in which students feel comfortable giving their best effort and will base my teaching style off of the students’ needs and the way they learn best. There is nothing I enjoy more than showing students their true potential and watching their confidence build. I served as a Dormitory Proctor in my dorm at Phillips Exeter Academy where I served as a role model and counselor for student’s academics and general well-being. I helped my dorm mates in all aspects of their academic lives including helping them with their work as well as time management and study skills. I was an honor roll student at Phillips Exeter and am continuing my academic success in my college career.
