Ian D.
Private tutor in Boston, MA
Education
Recent grad of Northeastern University, where I graduated cum laude. I majored in History with minors in Political Science and Law and Public Policy.
Experience
I have worked with fellow college students and elementary schoolers before, and in high school took multiple AP Tests (5 on both APUSH and AP Euro), as well as 1400 on the SAT. I have benefited from tutoring when I was in high school and want to return the opportunity that I was given as a student. I believe that even in subjects students are resistant to, every person can succeed, and especially in history a big part of it is confidence in what they are writing. I want to work with students to show them that history, government, law, civics, and geography are all areas they can excel. I have taken the following courses in college: US History 1900-1945, Law Policy and Society, US Constitutional Law, Understanding the 1960s, American Government, World History Since 1945, Modern Middle East For my senior capstone, I designed and built a website to examine gerrymandering in a historical context. Self-taught four web development languages to execute the project, and presented at undergraduate research forums at Harvard and Northeastern Universities.

Hobbies
In my spare time, I enjoy staying on top of current events, running, and getting out in the sunshine. I casually play guitar and enjoy the beach, the forest, and the city. Last summer I spent two weeks hiking and camping in the Rocky Mountains, but I also enjoy exploring the city and hanging out with my friends. You will find that I am pretty easy going, although I still make sure that my work gets done before stopping for the day.
