Education

Senior International Studies major at Boston College 3.7/4.0 Transferred from Bentley University 3.7/4.0 Graduated the American School in Japan in 2015

Experience

I'm bilingual in Japanese and English, and have taught English and Japanese in high school and college. In college, I was a writing tutor at Bentley University and helped undergraduate and graduate students of with various writing assignments from team projects for marketing classes, to final papers for sociology classes. I keep coming back to teaching/tutoring (as well as service/awareness-raising) because -this is very cheesy, but- I love helping people learn new things. Most of my course work now is writing and reading heavy, but I've taken AP Calculus AB (score: 4) in high school so I am comfortable teaching basic math. I've gotten a perfect 4.0 GPA twice in college while juggling extracurriculars and getting enough sleep, and am confident in my study skills. Courses taken in high school: AP Studio Art AP US History AP World History AP English Language AP English Literature AP Spanish AP Macroeconomics AP Chemistry AP Calculus AB Courses taken in college: Financial and Managerial Accounting Microeconomics Various Philosophy classes Various History classes

Hobbies

I used to volunteer teaching English to children on the weekends, and have been a counsellor for a kids' day camp for 3 years. I have a younger brother who I've helped create study plans for, and am now a mentor to underclassmen in college and have helped them figure out what they love and want to study. I've taken some twists and turns when trying to figure out what I love and want to study - I thought I was super into STEM in high school and took AP Calculus and AP Chemistry, went to business school thinking that was what I wanted to do, transferred schools to study the humanities, and am now deliberating going to law school- but I think I've gained some valuable experiences and insights on the way that I can share. I've loved to read and do art since I was a little, and enjoy sharing my knowledge and experiences with people. Currently, in addition to my class work at Boston College, I am involved in assisting international students (freshmen, transfer, and exchange students), am president of a club raising awareness around contemporary human trafficking, and trying to learn the guitar. I do not have a car, but I can meet almost anywhere that is T-accessible. Depending on circumstances I can also meet at the Boston College library.
