Experience
I'm a University of Pennsylvania student pursuing a degree in neuroscience. I've always been fascinated about the sciences, and in particular the intricacies of the brain, and I told my mother a long time ago that I would end up becoming a neurosurgeon. I began tutoring as a high school student, assisting peers in French, calculus, and algebra. I continued tutoring on campus as an undergraduate, helping students who were struggling with their understanding of coursework to help them overcome their learning obstacles. Usually on campus I've tutored physics and calculus. When I work with students, I focus on helping them understand the core concepts of the subject, and then I encourage a lot of practice. This help students apply their knowledge and build critical thinking and problem-solving skills so that they can learn independently and face new challenges without relying on memorization. The students I work with have not only increased their scores, but they also develop an appreciation for the subjects we study. I've also had several students who are able to increase their scores enough to get into their dream schools. When I'm not studying for the MCAT or tutoring, I like to cook, watch soccer, follow politics, and study astronomy and the brain.
