ExperienceHelping people is motivating, whether through tutoring or medicine. I like to tutor economics the most. It lets me incorporate real-world examples which makes lessons interesting. I can teach swimming as well, since I've spent 150 hours teaching beginning swim lessons to all ages. Whether in the water or in a tutoring session, I use the same strategies. This especially helps those with test-taking anxiety. I find it so rewarding when a student gains confidence in the study material. I can tutor in math, reading, writing, biology, chemistry, physiology, business, and economics. I am currently a junior and majoring in neuroscience at Brown University and not only volunteer, but coordinate the Brown Brain Bee. This will enable me to teach two-hour lessons in neuroscience at the high school level and hopefully inspire interest in the sciences. I've explored many academic interests here and am a member of the Liberal Medical Education program. I will attend Alpert Medical School after graduating. In addition, I volunteer with the Community Health Advocacy Program, teaching nutrition, exercise, and dental care to preschoolers in Providence area community centers. I like swimming, cooking, baking, and playing board and card games when I'm not studying, tutoring, or volunteering.
