ExperienceInformal tutoring experience with children of family friends and friends at school.
I want to be a tutor because I'm proficient in the academic areas I study and I would love to help young people become more comfortable with their subjects. School classes are often streamlined and focus on imparting the highest volume of information possible with the highest average grade possible. This doesn't work very well with all students. Many young students need to pay a little extra attention to really grasp new concepts, and can become amazingly proficient in subjects that were just covered too quickly in school with a little extra help. I've had a few tutors in my life who have really helped me find out what I love to study and have helped me unlock my critical thinking, reading, and writing talents, and I would love the opportunity to do the same for young students now that I have the ability to.
HobbiesI'm a big reader, I read everything from classics to Mystery serials. Currently going through a Russian Lit phase which is really dense, but so rewarding!
I've played ice hockey my whole life and I'm working on becoming a coach so I can pursue that.
I love any and all music, I can sit there listening to it and talking about it for hours.
I love art, I go to the MFA and Boston Symphony as much as possible.
