ExperienceI've been successfully teaching and tutoring for over a year in a number of different subjects. I worked at the University of Maryland's Writing Center and tutored for the SAT prep company Ivy Bound. I have also worked closely with families to design lessons specific to the needs and interests of their child (for example, Jewish history and text with a focus on women and feminism). I love developing the one-on-one connection that is specific to tutoring, and I treat each session as a conversation in which both student and tutor learn from each other. I am currently a teaching assistant in the third grade classroom at the Maimonides School in Brookline, MA.
HobbiesAs an English major, it goes without saying that I love reading: fiction, poetry, essays, newspapers and magazines. I also love creative writing; I've taken numerous fiction and poetry workshops and I've been blogging regularly for over a year. I also love to practice yoga and I spend ample amounts of time outside (biking, running, walking, hiking). I'm very adventurous in the kitchen - I love cooking for my family and friends and experimenting with gluten-free baking. Judaism is an important part of my life, so consequently I do not work on Friday nights and Saturdays and enjoy this time as a time for rest, prayer, and study.
