Private tutor in Boston, MA
Education
Currently a graduate student at the Boston University School of Medicine in the Ph.D. in Neurobiology Program. In 2014, I graduated from Boston University with an M.S. in Bioimaging. During my masters, I designed and carried out a brain imaging study using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). In this study, I investigated the neural systems response to color in abstract paintings and the effect of aesthetically judging paintings on the neural systems response to viewing paintings. In 2011, I graduated from Boston College magna cum laude with a B.S. in Chemistry and a minor in Studio Art. I was part of the College of Arts & Sciences Honors Program and received the Dean's Scholar of Chemistry Award. In my senior year, I designed and wrote an art conservation thesis which I presented at Harvard to the New England Conservation Association. The work was also presented at a national conference and featured on the JEOL, Inc. website.
Experience
While I do not have an extended background in tutoring, I do have a firm grasp of scientific subject matter. I graduated at the top of my class at Boston College, and am currently a graduate student in the Masters of Bioimaging Program at the Boston University School of Medicine. My teaching philosophy is centered around obtaining a good understanding of scientific models through drawing, visualizing, and discussing them. Once this understanding is achieved, answering questions and problem solving become less difficult! My work experience spans labs in both academia and industry. I have worked in synthetic organic chemistry labs at both Boston College and Merck. Most recently, I worked as a research associate at the NYU Langone Medical Center in an epigenetics lab. Additionally, I have some experience with scanning electron microscopy.
